Planning information is on-line at: http://people.virginia.edu/~gfb7c/Troop37/Jan2006PATC.htm
Highlights:
- I have the cabin key and rental forms
- Tour permit has been submitted
- I’ll get Class I medical forms from Chuck
- I need your signed parent permission forms. I don’t have the slick way for submitting the form electronically. If you don’t want to print and sign the form then your parent can send me an email message with all the requested information.
- Weather looks fine
- 7 scouts,
- 4 (maybe 5) adults
- 3 vehicles
- Cobra Patrol leadership to train and practice building shelter and/or other in camp activity
- Skyline Drive is closed today 1/23. Accordingly I put the alternative hiking directions on-line. Map. Be prepared for a 4 mile up hill hike to the cabin.
- Cabin sleeps 12. We have 12 people. We can drive 12 people w/gear. I put the bunking arrangements online.
- Need water pump/filter. A saw would be handy even though the cabin is supposed to have a saw. Anyone have a camera?
- Ask questions. Email is gbanks@virginia.edu. Cell is 434.981.9530

Troop 37,
The January PLC meeting provided guidance on what outdoor events we should plan for January through September. I will send email and post information as dates and information become available for each event
Peggy is getting a list of service projects that we can do
- In January, the winter camping at the PATC Cabin is still on.
- In February the tubing trip is on. (I only had two scouts interested in skiing).
- In March, we will be going hiking in Petersburg for the day only
- In April, Cory L will need to pick out a long hike on the AT
- In May, fishing campout — looking at Calf Pasture or James Rivers
- Possible council Camporee in Natural Bridge, VA
- In late June, Scout camp
- In July or Aug, super bike trip
- In Sept or Oct to Baltimore aquarium

I’m tracking progress towards the National Camping Award for the troop and/or individual scouts. Just like I tracked holiday trees sales on-line, I’ll track our outdoor attendance plans online at:
http://people.virginia.edu/~gfb7c/Troop37/OutingTracker.htm
I will put the scouter’s patrol names on the list when I get them straight in my head!. [Done 1.10.07 - gfb]
So for now, you can see that 11 scouts are scheduled to attend Klondike as of 1/11/07. Most of the Cobras are attending the PATC camping trip and only a couple of scouts are interested in tubing or the optional ski trip.

I know some folks worked Wednesday, 12/17. I know the Lamonicas helped tear down stands. Please review your hours and days for the tree sales.
Sales shifts on line at: http://www.people.virginia.edu/~gfb7c/treesales2006.htm
Scouts worked over 200 hours and helper put in over 144 hours.
Thank you very much for your help tracking hours. If you have questions about your shifts then please let me know.
Yours in scouting and thank you for reading the email messages.

What if, instead of having to remember to visit the BSA Troop 37’s web site, the troop’s news came directly to you? The troop’s RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed allows you to subscribe to news you want, viewable from a computer or mobile device. Only two things are required: a connection to the Internet and a small application called a news reader. Some new Web browsers have this application built in. Subscribing to the feed in iTunes also allows you to automatically download podcasts and vodcasts.
